Here are selfies – staged poses of myself, photographed with as ten second time lapse to allow me to get into position, and then drawn. The technique is to draw invisibly in clear water then drag a dark sepia conte crayon across it to develop an initial image.
Wow, really strong images Neil and a daring approach! Thank you.
Yes. This is new for me. I don’t yet know where to take this. The style using blue lines to enclose space comes from the film Charlotte about the brief life of artist Charlotte Salomon.
That top one, with the blue outline is ace.
Thanks
It’s not like drawing, more like enclosing space. A friend said it reminded her of the foetal position, which I’d not thought of.
Oh yes, definately. And that head down pose. Very suggestive. The blue attracted me too, I saw some ‘simple’ blue guoache life paintings yesterday that made me want to get the mirror out on muself, then I saw your post.
That’s interesting – where did you see the paintings?
Here https://www.whitworth.manchester.ac.uk/whats-on/exhibitions/currentexhibitions/undefiningqueer/ I didn’t note the artist, unfortunately.
So have you been already? Looks really good. I’ve been to Manchester several times recently one reason or another and have drawn in the main city museum.
Yes, went Saturday to visit H. I was impressed with their curation. Also went to John Rylands Library and Cathedral. Plenty more to see in future trips!
Very good! I love them — interesting technique (and inspiration to me)
Thanks
Oh my goodness! I would never think of posing for myself, unless it was fully clothed for a portrait. Good on you making such bold headway with your art approach.
