There’s something freeing about not having time to agonize over things.
There was a professional artist in the mix on Sunday. Among other things, a sculptor. Her charcoal drawings were phenomenal. They seemed … solid somehow. I need to think on that. Ideas for my pared down sketches.
I imagine being a sculptor would help you see form. I am not good with 3-dimensional space.
The use gouache has given them a great solidity. I like the back of the neck of the first one and the negative space one too.
I’m finding these drawings very inspirational. Figure-drawing is a challenge for me, but I love doing it. I need to get back to it. I think I’ll try it using my gansai — which is similar to gouache. Thanks for sharing.
I really like these. Great capture of light. (K)
Thanks. It was lots of fun painting against the clock, about 15-20 mins for the gouache ones, much less for the others.
Trying to free myself up.

The negative space was a fun one.

It was my pleasure!
